About our school

Careers education

The school provides practical careers advice and assistance through the Personal, Social & Health Education programme, together with individual mentoring.

Real Game initiative

In Year 9, as GCSE option choices are being made, the Real Game Initiative raises awareness of the full range of opportunities available and their implications.

Careers Department

When students are about to make decisions about subject choices after GCSE, or about post A Level destinations, a structured programme of information and advice is provided by the Careers Department.  In Year 11 all students do one week's Work Experience, which can be carried on into the Sixth Form if time permits.

Work Related Skills

A Challenge of Management Conference is held jointly in July between Gravesend Grammar School for Girls and Gravesend Grammar School for all Lower Sixth students.  Mock interviews are available for our Upper Sixth students in October, conducted by friends of the school, Governors and Meopham Rotary Club.

Careers Library

The school has a well-stocked Careers Library and information is readily available on all the school computers.  This enables students to carry out research into any career which is of interest and to check the availability of places on particular Higher Education courses.  Together these act as an excellent resource for UCAS applications and employment opportunities post A Level.

Work Experience

The Language Department also organises Work Experience abroad for Sixth Form students studying French, German and Spanish.
