School Uniform - Obligatory (July 2008)

Outdoor

  • Plain dark coloured coat, anorak or fleece (Denim jackets, leather, suede or velvet jackets and jackets with logos are not acceptable).

Indoor

  • Kilt in GGSG tartan, only available from Longfield Wools. The skirt length must be on, or just above, the knee.
  • Navy sweater with school stripes and/or navy cardigan, v necked with school stripes. (Round-necked jumpers or pullovers are not acceptable).
  • Light blue, short sleeved poly-cotton blouse with the school aster on the pocket.
  • Navy/black socks or navy/black plain (not patterned) tights.
  • Sturdy shoes in a plain dark colour with a heel height of no more than 5cm (Boots of any description, platform shoes, canvas shoes, sling backed shoes, stiletto heeled shoes or sideless shoes are not acceptable).
  • Navy blue or white Laboratory coat. Compulsory for Science in Years 7 – 9.
  • A blue or white laboratory coat is strongly recommended to be worn in Years 10 &11 to protect students and their clothing during practical lessons.
  • Full apron - available only from the school at an approximate cost of £3.50 in the first week of the Autumn Term.

Physical
Education

  • White training shoes
  • Hockey or football boots (can be inexpensive canvas or leather but no metal studs)
  • White polo shirt with collar
  • PE sweatshirt - available from the PE Department, distributed in the Autumn Term, cost £15.00.
  • Navy PE shorts or navy cotton/lycra cycling shorts
  • Navy PE skirt, half pleated or Navy Skirt (available from Longfield Wools)
  • Leotard or all-in-one, colour optional
  • White sports socks

Optional

  • Flesh coloured tights, (Summer wear only, until October 1 st)
  • Navy/black/white/flesh coloured trainer socks, (Summer wear only, until October 1 st)
  • National Back Pain Association’ schoolbag or similar double strapped school bag e.g. ‘Quadra’ schoolbag QD59. Recommended for Years 7 and 8 to reduce the risk of back strain.
  • The official school scarf or an appropriate scarf in school colours only (black, blue, lilac or dark green - football scarves are not acceptable)
  • Hair bands/ribbons/clips in any of the school colours and of an appropriate type for wearing with the school uniform.
  • Track suit or jogging suit (navy blue)
  • Navy trousers – “Classic” style Banner 3822 or Trutex JHT341 from Longfield Wools, for use as part of the Winter uniform only during the Autumn and Spring terms (Terms 1 - 4).

NO NAIL VARNISH OR JEWELLERY MAY BE WORN except a watch and a single pair of small discreet ear studs, one in each ear, which must be removed for PE lessons. Body piercing, other than for ear studs, is not acceptable. Discreet make up (thin mascara, light foundation but no lipstick, eye liner or eye shadow) may be worn. Hair should be a natural colour without very obvious streaks and therefore be appropriate for school. If hair is worn in braids, they should be plain. On health and safety grounds, nails should be appropriately trimmed and false nails are not permitted under any circumstances. Nail varnish is not permitted.

N.B. Please remember that dyed/bleached hair will grow out eventually and what may appear acceptable initially, can become unacceptable.

Please ensure all your daughter's property is clearly named. We endeavour to return lost property that is named to the rightful owners, however unmarked and unclaimed items will be disposed of after a short period of time.
